Although the exhibition has a certain anthological nature, its main object is the city of Lisbon. Lisbon built on Portuguese territory throughout its history, on an almost baroque topography, bathed by the sunlight reflecting from the surface of the River Tagus. The city, an artificial construction of humankind, right up until the present day.
The possibility of creating significant relationships with the territory, understood in its broad sense, has perhaps been the main objective reference that my projects have sought to construct. I use the term territory to mean a support, the unchanging feature that welcomes our presence and that is already marked by it. At a certain point, the territory had a certain geological constitution, a topographical form, animals and plants under the sky, sun, cold and rain. We live on the land and we build with everything that we have available. We can build what we want, but we cannot cease to build with meaning.
