Presentation

In 1922 the Portuguese aviators Gago Coutinho and Sacadura Cabral set off from the Tagus, near Belém, on the first aerial crossing of the South Atlantic. A stainless steel replica of the Santa Cruz (one of the hydroplanes used on the journey) was placed near the Belém Tower in 1991 to mark this achievement.
