Presentation
As part of the Music Schools project, the Youth Symphony Orchestra (Orquestra Sinfónica Juvenil, OSJ) will be performing in the CCB’s Small Auditorium. This is a fundamental institution within the Portuguese musical and pedagogical panorama, with many of the current instrumentalists in our orchestras having passed through its ranks. Since 1984, Christopher Bochmann has been the chief conductor of the orchestra, which has also been conducted by Francisco d’Orey, Jorge Matta, António Saiote, Roberto Perez, Georges Adjinikos, José Palau, Andrew Swinerton, Vasco Azevedo, Julius Michalsky, Pedro Amaral and Filipe Carvalheiro. The OSJ’s repertoire is constantly being renewed, and, over the 42 years of its history, it has already performed more than 800 works spanning the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries.
