Presentation

The bass-player João Hasselberg will be coming to the CCB to present his second album, Truth Has To Be Given In Riddles (self-released in 2014), after making his debut as a composer with the album Whatever It Is You're Seeking Won't Come In The Form You're Expecting, both of which were recognised by the specialist press as being amongst the best records of each year.

Hasselberg once again confirms the power of the images generated by his original compositions, in which he not only makes use of jazz themes, but also draws on pop influences, showing his music to be profoundly human and sensitive.
On stage, his artistic work results from the remarkable musicianship of a group of other Portuguese instrumentalists with firmly established reputations on the national jazz scene, including Diogo Duque, Ricardo Toscano, João Firmino, Luís Figueiredo, Bruno Pedroso and the singer Joana Espadinha.

João Hasselberg double bass, electric bass
Joana Espadinha vocals
Diogo Duque trumpet
Ricardo Toscano saxophone
João Firmino guitar
Luís Figueiredo piano, keyboards
Bruno Pedroso drums
