Presentation
Tânia Oleiro was born in Lisbon in 1979. As a child, she heard her mother singing the fado, which led her to fall in love with this musical genre from a very early age.
She began her career as a fado singer when she was only ten years old by winning the Setúbal Grand Night of Fado. She has taken part in many nights of fado and in various amateur fado competitions, winning the 1st Odivelas Fado Competition and the 1st Almada Fado Competition, in 2002. She also completed her educational training in that same year, when new pathways opened up before her, always with the dream of being able to reconcile her work as a teacher with her career as a fado singer.
In 2012, she was included in Diogo Clemente’s Urbanas collection, and she is currently preparing her first album, which will be a chronological overview of the repertoire that she has been developing over the last eleven years.
