Branco is the face of the activism displayed by the Global Club Music network. Through his presence on BBC Radio 1 (In New DJs We Trust / R1 Residency), he has raised the bar, not only of his mission, but also of his lifelong partners – Buraka Som Sistema. Producer, composer, DJ, mentor of the Enchilada label, and visionary, João Barbosa (Branco) is the name linked to Mad Decent (music publishers), Red Bull Music Academy (where he is a regular guest lecturer), BBC Radio 1 (In New DJs We Trust), Mega Hits (monthly residency), “Drums Slums and Hums” (mixtape from 2013) and, obviously, Enchufada (a label that he himself created) and Buraka Som Sistema (of which he was the founder). Branco aka the Anthony Bourdain of dance music.
